Back-to-school checklist
☐ Fees invoice from each school for Term 1 2027 — check it is the approved amount.
☐ Birth certificate and last report card for a new school or Form 1.
☐ Uniform tried on: shirts, jersey, shoes — buy one size up for growing children.
☐ Stationery list from the school, ticked off item by item.
☐ Transport arranged and paid; boarders' trunk packed and labelled.
☐ Receipts kept for every payment — receipt number, date and who received it.
Good to know
No pupil may be excluded from school for non-payment of school fees (Education Act, section 68C, inserted in 2019). If money is short, ask the head for a payment plan in writing.
School fees and levies need approval: if a new amount looks unusual, ask the school to show the approval.
Pay against an invoice and keep every receipt — with the receipt number, the date and the name of the person who took the money.
If you pay part in ZiG, ask for the receipt to show both the ZiG amount and the US$ value of the fees it covers.
All amounts are the family's own and in US dollars: the examples are not school prices. Monthly amounts run from today to the month before opening day, rounded up to the dollar; the last one evens out.
