Re: Redundancy — breakdown of my redundancy payment and final pay

Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to your letter of [DATE OF NOTICE] informing me that my position as [JOB TITLE] will end on [LAST DAY] by reason of redundancy because of [REASON]. I would be grateful for a written breakdown of my redundancy payment and final pay before that date.

Based on the Employment (Termination and Redundancy Payments) Act, the 1974 Regulations and my records, I calculate the following:

redundancy payment under regulation 8 for [YEARS] years of employment — J$ [AMOUNT];

pay in lieu of notice under section 3 — [WEEKS] weeks, J$ [AMOUNT];

vacation leave owed — [DAYS] days, J$ [AMOUNT];

unpaid wages and other pay owed — J$ [AMOUNT].

Total: J$ [TOTAL], before any tax that may apply.

Please also confirm the weekly wages you have used, the date of payment, and that my NIS and NHT contributions are up to date. I would be glad to meet to go through the figures.

Please reply by [REPLY BY DATE]. Thank you for the years of work together.

Yours faithfully,

If you cannot agree 1. Keep your contract, payslips for the last 13 weeks, leave record and this worksheet together. 2. Ask your union or delegate to help you check the figures. 3. You can ask the Ministry of Labour and Social Security for advice on redundancy payments.
