Dear Sir or Madam,

On [DATE OF PURCHASE] I paid S$[AMOUNT] for [DESCRIPTION OF THE PACKAGE — E.G. 20 SESSIONS VALID UNTIL (DATE)]. Since [DATE], you have [closed the outlet without notice / stopped providing the service / cancelled my bookings / not completed the work], and I can no longer use the package.

1. What I paid and what I received

Item Details

Date of purchase [DATE]

Amount paid S$[AMOUNT]

If I do not receive the refund by then, I intend, without further notice, to:

1. lodge a complaint with the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE); and

2. file a claim against you in the Small Claims Tribunals for the amount above, plus the filing fee.

Yours faithfully,

Small Claims Tribunals. Claims about goods or services up to S$20,000 (or S$30,000 if both sides sign a memorandum of consent). The Tribunals cannot hear a claim filed after 2 years from the date the cause of action arose — count from the date the service stopped.

Find the right name. Use the business name and UEN on your invoice; check it before you file. Send the letter to the registered address as well as the outlet.

Paid by card? Ask your card issuer at once whether you can dispute the charge for services not provided. Card issuers set their own time limits.

Many customers affected? Keep a copy of the closure notice and join others in complaining to CASE; it helps show the scale.
